No Intel Macs. The minimum is an Apple Silicon chip, so 2019 and earlier Intel MacBooks and iMacs cannot run Big Walk at all. There is no Rosetta fallback listed. If your Mac has an Intel processor, your options are a PC, a PS5 or a Switch 2 — see the price and platforms guide.
What These Requirements Actually Tell You
Requirement tables are usually skimmed for a yes or no. This one is worth reading properly, because the numbers are lopsided in a way that says something about the game.
The minimum spec is a fast CPU with a slow GPU
The minimum processor is an Intel Core i7-7700K — a flagship desktop chip from 2017. The minimum graphics card is a GTX 750 Ti, a budget card from 2014 with 2 GB of memory. Those two parts were never sold to the same person. A machine built around a 750 Ti almost certainly had a mid-range i5, and anyone who bought a 7700K paired it with something far stronger than a 750 Ti.
Listing them together is a deliberate signal: Big Walk needs processor headroom much more than it needs graphics power. That fits what the game is doing. A twelve-player session has to simulate twelve characters, their physics, their tools and toys, and their positional voice streams all at once, in a world with no loading screens. Rendering a stylised, low-detail landscape is the easy half.
The practical takeaway: if you are on the edge, a graphics card upgrade will do less for your frame rate here than it would in most games. Old integrated graphics are a real problem, but an old quad-core will hurt more, and it will hurt most in exactly the situation you bought the game for — a full lobby.
12 GB of RAM is a lot for a game that looks this gentle
Plenty of 2026 releases with far busier visuals ask for 8 GB. Big Walk asking 12 GB as a minimum, and 16 GB as a recommendation, points the same direction as the CPU requirement: a lot of simultaneously-simulated state, held in memory, for a world you can walk across without a break.
If you have exactly 12 GB, close the browser before a long session. Voice chat, a Discord call and thirty tabs on a 12 GB machine is how a smooth walk turns into a stuttering one two hours in.
The Mac version asks for more memory than the PC version
Windows minimum: 12 GB. Mac minimum: 16 GB. That is unusual, and it is not a typo on Steam's side — the Mac recommendation is also 16 GB, meaning House House lists no separate headroom tier for Mac at all. On Apple Silicon the memory is unified between the processor and the graphics, so the graphics workload draws from the same pool the simulation is using. A base 8 GB M1 or M2 machine falls below the minimum even though its chip is comfortably fast enough.
If you are buying a Mac to play this with friends, memory matters more than the chip generation. A 16 GB M1 clears the bar; an 8 GB M3 does not.
Steam Deck: Verified
Big Walk carries Valve's Steam Deck Verified badge, the top of the three compatibility tiers. Verified is not a general statement that the game runs; it means Valve tested it on Deck hardware and it passed all four specific checks:
- The default controller configuration is fully functional — no custom mapping needed before you play.
- On-screen controller prompts match the Deck's own buttons, rather than showing Xbox or PlayStation glyphs.
- Interface text is legible at the Deck's screen size.
- The default graphics configuration performs adequately on Deck hardware.
The second check is worth noticing for a game that leans on tools, toys and gestures. Wrong button prompts are a small annoyance in a solo game and a genuine problem when three friends are trying to tell you which button to press.
Note also that Big Walk has no native Linux build — the Steam listing offers Windows and macOS only. Deck Verified therefore means it runs well through Proton, Valve's compatibility layer. Desktop Linux players can generally expect it to work for the same reason, but Valve certifies the Deck specifically, not your distribution.
One caveat that no badge covers: this is a voice-chat game. Verified says nothing about the Deck's built-in microphone in a noisy room. A headset is the difference between being heard and being the friend everyone gives up on.
Accessibility Features
Big Walk ships with four accessibility options that Steam lists as store features. Steam's accessibility tags are declared by the developer, and the tag tells you a feature exists without telling you how deep it goes, so treat this as a list of what is present rather than a review of how well it works.
| Feature | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Camera Comfort | Options aimed at motion sickness — typically field of view, camera shake, head bob and motion blur. |
| Color Alternatives | Alternatives to colour as the only way information is conveyed, for colour-blind players. |
| Adjustable Difficulty | Difficulty can be changed, rather than being fixed for the whole run. |
| Playable without Timed Input | No section requires a reaction within a time limit, so nothing is gated behind reflex speed. |
The last one matters more in this game than the tag suggests. Big Walk is a shared walk with no fail states, and the unlock rates on our achievements page back that up — the drop-off between milestones is gradual, with no point where the player population collapses against a wall. Nobody gets stranded because they were half a second slow.
What is not listed: Steam shows no subtitle, text-size or full-audio-description tags for Big Walk. Given that the game's whole design rests on hearing your friends talk, players who are deaf or hard of hearing should check the in-game options before buying. Our communication tools guide covers the non-voice ways the game lets you signal to a group.
Audio, Controllers and Languages
Stereo only
Steam lists Big Walk's audio as Stereo Sound — there is no surround output. Proximity voice chat is still positional: a friend to your left is louder in your left ear, and that is how you find each other in a crowd. It is simply done in two channels. A pair of headphones does more for you here than a 5.1 setup, which the game will just fold back down to stereo. More on how the proximity system behaves in the voice chat guide.
Controllers
Steam lists full controller support, plus explicit DualShock and DualSense support. Full support means the whole game, including menus, is playable on a pad without touching a keyboard — useful when a PC is plugged into a television and several people are on the sofa.
Languages
Big Walk is available in 14 languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Latin America), Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Turkish.
This is interface and text localisation. In a game whose main channel is your own voice, the language that matters most is the one your group speaks — crossplay lets a mixed-language group play together, but nothing translates what you say to each other.
Sharing a Copy
Big Walk is tagged for Steam Family Sharing, so a copy can be shared with people in your Steam family. One thing to be clear about before you plan a group night: sharing lends the copy, it does not clone it. Two people cannot play the same copy at the same time, which is exactly what co-op needs. A group of four needs four copies. Sharing is useful for letting a friend try the game while you are not playing, not for filling out a lobby.
Steam Cloud is also supported, so your progress follows you between PCs on the same account.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Big Walk run on a laptop with integrated graphics?
Possibly, if the rest of the machine is strong. The minimum graphics requirement is low — a GTX 750 Ti is beaten by modern integrated graphics such as Intel Iris Xe or AMD Radeon 780M. The harder bars are the 12 GB of memory and a processor in the class of an i7-7700K. A recent thin-and-light with 16 GB is a better bet than an older gaming laptop with 8 GB.
Is Big Walk Steam Deck Verified?
Yes. It holds the Verified badge, the highest tier, having passed all four of Valve's checks: working default controls, Deck-matched button prompts, legible text and adequate default performance. Bring a headset — the badge does not cover voice chat in a noisy room.
Does Big Walk work on Intel Macs?
No. The minimum Mac requirement is an Apple Silicon chip, M1 or newer, on macOS 15. Intel Macs are not supported at any setting.
Why does the Mac version need more RAM than the PC version?
Windows asks for 12 GB, Mac asks for 16 GB. Apple Silicon shares one pool of memory between the processor and the graphics, so the graphics workload comes out of the same 16 GB the simulation is using. An 8 GB Mac is below the minimum however fast its chip is.
Is there a native Linux version?
No. Steam lists Windows and macOS only. The game is Steam Deck Verified, which means it runs well through Proton, so desktop Linux players can generally expect it to work — but Valve tests the Deck, not every distribution.
Can I share one copy with a friend so we can play together?
No. Steam Family Sharing lends a copy rather than duplicating it, and two people cannot play the same copy at once. Co-op needs one copy per player.
Does Big Walk have colour-blind options?
Steam lists Color Alternatives as a store feature, which means information is not conveyed by colour alone. The tag is declared by the developer and does not specify which modes are offered, so check the in-game accessibility menu for the exact options.
